Social Recreation

Purpose
The purpose of Creative Minds ADP Inc., Social Recreation Program, is to provide person-centered opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to create and maintain meaningful relationships, participate in recreational and community activities, increase independence, develop social and life skills, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Philosophy
The program will operate according to the principle that every individual has the right to meaningful relationships, recreation, community participation, and opportunities to make choices about how they spend their free time.
Service Component
The curriculum will vary however the overarching objective will be to support individuals in further developing social skills through social recreation activities. 

Opportunities for Growth Include Development in:

  • Building and maintaining meaningful friendships and relationships.
  • Taking turns, sharing, and appropriately asking for assistance when needed.
  • Initiating and maintaining conversations with others.
  • Resolving disagreements appropriately and respectfully.
  • Understanding and respecting personal space and social boundaries.
  • Identifying and participating in opportunities to meet people with shared interests.
  • Developing effective and appropriate communication skills.
  • Practicing appropriate social boundaries across different settings and relationships.

Attendance Policy
Creative Minds ADP Inc. will make every effort to ensure attendance as determined by the individual served.
For individuals served under the age of 18, the caregiver must attend 100% of the sessions and are an integral part of the service team. No refunds for missed sessions.
